Why the common fix backfires
It's protein and stomach acid together. Heat sets the protein, and scrubbing pushes the acid deeper where it keeps working on the dye.
The honest limit
Stomach acid can strip dye out of the fiber. That's damage, not soil, and no cleaning puts color back.
