STAIN INDEX
vacuuming wrong
Slow down. Half your normal speed, minimum. Empty the bag or bin at half full — suction drops long before it looks full.
The method
- Slow down. Half your normal speed, minimum.
- Multiple passes in different directions on the same spot.
- Empty the bag or bin at half full — suction drops long before it looks full.
- Set beater height so the brush touches, not digs.
- Vacuum before anything wet ever touches the carpet.
Why the common fix backfires
Speed is the problem, not power. One fast pass lifts surface lint. Soil sits at the base of the fiber and needs several slow passes to work up and out.
The honest limit
Vacuuming removes dry soil. It does nothing about oily soil bonded to the fiber, and that's most of what makes carpet look dull.
