Why the common fix backfires

The odor source is in the pad, not the pile. Cleaning the pile removes the smell for a few days until humidity brings it back up through the fiber. Stronger perfume just layers on top of it.

The honest limit

Sub-surface odor needs the source located and treated at the pad. Sometimes the pad has to be replaced, and we'll say so rather than sell you a service that won't work.
