Carpet & Upholstery Protector in Lodi, CA

Protector is a coating that takes the abrasion so your fibre does not. Sand grinds against the coating instead of the carpet, and once it wears through the damage that follows is permanent. It only bonds to a properly neutralised carpet, which is why it is applied after the acid rinse and never on its own.

What it actually does

The coating is a shield. Every footstep grinds sand against it, and that is its entire job — to be the thing that gets destroyed instead of your carpet.

Once the sand wears it through, the fibre is exposed and starts to break down. It blooms. It frays. It unravels. The longer it goes the flatter and more matted it gets, and that damage does not come back.

It only bonds to a clean, neutralised carpet

This is the part that gets missed, and it is the reason protector sometimes seems not to work.

An alkaline cleaner releases the oils. If that alkaline is never neutralised with an acid rinse, what is left on the fibre is residue. Protector applied over residue does not bond to anything — it sits on top of the residue.

If a company is not doing the rinse, the protector you paid for is not doing what you paid for.

When to reapply

Never more than a year. Big household or heavy traffic, every six months.

There is no way to predict how hard you will wear it or how little you will vacuum, so the schedule is a safety net rather than a guess.

What it does not do

It does not make carpet stain-proof. Nothing does. What it buys you is time — enough to get to a spill and blot it before it sets.

It also does nothing for carpet that has already grated. If your traffic lanes have gone grey from abrasion, protector will not bring them back, and we would rather you put that money toward replacement.

Pricing in Lodi

Protector is priced per room on top of the cleaning, with the same$200 minimum that applies to everything. It is applied as part of the job, not as a separate visit.

Pricing does not change by city and the price is confirmed in person before any work starts.

Frequently asked questions

Is protector worth the money?

On a carpet you intend to keep, yes. On a carpet that has already abraded, no — put the money toward replacement instead.

Does it make carpet stain-proof?

No. It buys you time to blot a spill before it sets. Nothing makes carpet stain-proof.

Can I apply it myself?

Not effectively, and not onto a carpet that has not been cleaned and neutralised first.

How do I know if mine has worn off?

You usually cannot see it directly. What you see is the result — traffic lanes flattening and dulling faster than the rest of the room.

Can you protect upholstery too?

Yes, subject to the fabric code. Same principle, same timing — after cleaning, never before.
