Urine does not sit on carpet. It passes through the backing into the pad and can reach the subfloor, so the surface shows a fraction of what is actually there. Treating it means finding every spot under UV, flooding the area with enzyme and extracting it back out, repeatedly. Straight talk: this is an honest attempt. It is never a guarantee.

First we find it

You cannot fix what you cannot find, so it starts with a black light. Under UV every deposit lights up, and we walk the room with you.

What people find on that walkthrough is almost always more than they expected — and usually in places nobody guessed.

Then we flood and flush

The floor gets flooded with enzyme and that yellow gets drawn back out of the pad, over and over, until it rinses clear. The enzymes go to work on the bacteria that produces the odour.

Flood, dwell, extract. Then again. That is the only method that reaches the pad at all.

Straight talk about the limits

This is an attempt, at best. There is no guarantee, because we cannot peel the carpet up and reach every bit of contamination underneath it.

How much comes back depends on how far it went and how long it sat. Once it has soaked into the pad and the subfloor, carpet cleaning alone cannot reach all of it. Sometimes the pad has to come out, and that is a different job.

You will know what we think we can achieve before you spend anything. Anyone who promises you the smell will be gone is guessing.

Why low-moisture cleaning cannot do this

The only real method is flood and flush. A method that does not put liquid down has no mechanism to flush a pad — it cannot flood it, cannot extract it, cannot reach where the odour actually lives.

That is not an opinion about quality. It is a physical limit of how the method works.

Why the smell comes back on a warm day

Dried urine leaves crystals behind in the backing and the pad. They sit dormant and then humidity wakes them up, which is why a room can smell fine in February and wrong in July. It is also why a carpet can smell worse right after cleaning — moisture reactivated what was already down there.

Will the smell definitely go away?

No, and anyone who says otherwise is guessing. It depends entirely on how far the urine travelled and how long it sat before treatment.

What if it reached the subfloor?

Then carpet cleaning alone will not fully solve it. Sometimes the pad has to come out and the subfloor gets treated directly. We will tell you if that is what we are looking at.

Does a deodoriser help?

No. It covers the smell for a few days and leaves residue behind that attracts soil. If a company offers free deodoriser, that is not a perk.

Why does my house smell like the animal when I have been away?

Pet oils build up on walls, doors and doorjambs as well as carpet. The air conditioning holds those smells down. Turn it off for a week and heat and humidity release them all at once.

Can you treat it without cleaning the whole carpet?

Spot treatment is possible but it rarely gives a result worth paying for. The contamination is usually broader than the visible spot.
