Upholstery Cleaning in Lodi, CA
The problem with a couch is almost never the visible spots. It is body oil, soaked into the arms, the headrests and down into the cushion foam over years. Surface cleaning does not reach it, which is why the smell always comes back. Every piece gets its fabric code checked before anything wet touches it.
Why your couch smells and looks tired
Sit on a couch every night and you leave oil behind. Arms, headrests, the seat deck. It builds slowly enough that nobody notices, and by the time the fabric looks darker in those spots the oil has been there for years.
Those oils go past the surface fabric and into the foam. That is why a couch can be wiped down and still smell — whatever is producing the odour is under the part you cleaned.
Pets make it worse than carpet
An animal should not be sleeping on your upholstery. The oils off their skin go so deep into the fabric and the cushions that past a certain point it is close to impossible to get back out.
Carpet at least has a backing and a pad underneath it. A cushion is foam all the way through, and foam holds everything.
The fabric code comes first
Every piece carries a cleaning code, and it decides everything that happens next. Some fabrics take water. Some take solvent only. Some will shrink, watermark or bleed dye the moment they are wet.
We find the tag and read it before anything comes off the truck. If the code says a piece should not be wet-cleaned, we tell you that instead of doing it anyway and hoping.
What we can and cannot fix
Oils and soil come out. Worn fabric, sun fading, dye loss, pilling and tears do not. A cushion that has lost its shape does not come back from a cleaning.
On heavily contaminated pieces — long-term pet sleeping spots especially — we will tell you honestly if we think the result is not worth what it costs.
Drying
Longer than carpet. Cushions hold moisture in the foam, so plan on the piece being unusable for the rest of the day. Airflow helps more than anything else.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my couch smell even after I clean it?
Because what you cleaned was the surface and the oils are in the foam. Surface cleaning cannot reach them, so the smell returns within days.
Can you clean a piece with no tag?
Sometimes, after testing an inconspicuous area. If the fibre cannot be identified with confidence we will say so rather than gamble with your furniture.
Will it look brand new?
It will look clean. Fabric that has worn, faded or lost dye will still be worn, faded and short on dye afterwards.
How long until I can sit on it?
Plan on the rest of the day. Cushions hold moisture longer than carpet does.
Do you clean leather?
Leather is a different process from fabric. Ask when you call and we will tell you what your piece needs.
