COMPARISON
Carpet vs Hard Floors for Allergies
More contested than most people assume. Carpet traps particulate and holds it until vacuumed or extracted. Hard floors let the same particulate stay airborne and redistribute with every footstep.
The part that actually matters
Neither surface is automatically better. What matters is whether it is actually maintained. An unmaintained carpet is worse than a swept hard floor; a properly extracted carpet on a real cycle is arguably better because it removes the reservoir instead of circulating it.
