Carpet Cleaning Before a New Baby

Yes, and the timing matters. Clean far enough ahead that the carpet is fully dry and fully off-gassed, use a process that finishes at neutral pH so no residue is left where an infant will spend time on the floor, and treat upholstery and mattresses in the same visit since those carry the heaviest body-oil load.

An infant spends more time in direct contact with floor surfaces than anyone else in the house, and breathes closer to them.

The residue question matters more here than anywhere. A job finished without a rinse leaves sticky alkaline residue on the exact surface a baby will crawl across. Ask directly whether a rinse agent is used.

Book it with enough margin that everything is completely dry before the nursery is set up.
