Encapsulation residue
By design, yes — encapsulation crystallises soil into a polymer that is then vacuumed out. That is how the method works. The problem is when follow-up vacuuming is inadequate, which on a one-time residential job it usually is. The crystals remain in the pile as additional hard particulate against the fiber.
What is actually happening
Encapsulation has a legitimate role as interim maintenance in commercial buildings that must be usable overnight. Sold as a replacement for extraction in a home, it lets deep soil accumulate while adding abrasive residue.
How you prevent it
Use encapsulation as maintenance between restorative cleanings, not instead of them.
