What is actually happening
It appears at the edges of rooms, under doors, and along stair risers — anywhere air is forced through carpet. It responds to specific treatment but frequently improves rather than disappears, and any company promising complete removal is guessing.
How you prevent it
Sealing air gaps and improving filtration reduces it. Regular cleaning at the edges slows it.
