Urine crystallization
Dried urine crystallises. Those crystals release odour whenever humidity rises, which is why a smell you thought was gone comes roaring back on a warm damp day months later. Deodorisers do nothing to crystals — they must be dissolved and physically extracted.
What is actually happening
This is the single most misunderstood thing about pet odour. The smell disappearing is not the same as the source being gone.
How you prevent it
Treat the source early with a sub-surface flush rather than masking the smell.
