Paint
on carpet.

It depends entirely on the type, and getting that wrong is how a small spill becomes a repair. Water-based emulsion, treated while wet, often responds to blotting with cold water. Anything oil-based, and anything already dry, should be left alone until it has been seen.

FIRST 60 SECONDS MATTER MOST

Never do this

Never let it dry if you can help it, and never attack dried paint with a solvent from the garage. Many solvents dissolve the fibre or the backing adhesive as readily as the paint, and that damage is not recoverable.

THIS IS WHAT MAKES IT PERMANENT

Why paint behaves this way

Paint is designed to bond permanently to a surface, which is the opposite of what a stain normally does. Emulsion is a polymer suspended in water and stays workable while wet. Once cured it has done exactly what it was formulated to do, and what remains is mechanical removal with real risk to the pile.

All work is subject to a $200 minimum service charge. Per-room and per-square-foot rates are building blocks toward that minimum, not standalone visit prices.
